A discolored cabinet base says little about how long a leak ran or which adjacent layers are wet. A plumber's fitting repair and building-material restoration are not interchangeable.
What should a source report identify?
Ask whether a supply fitting, drain connection or unrelated path was found, and who will make the correction. A written note about uncertainty is more useful than guessing from where a stain appears.
Does a new cabinet resolve surrounding materials?
An independent assessor can explain observations at the base, adjoining wall and floor, and whether each item is dried or replaced. EPA's flood guidance conditions discarding absorbent material on inability to clean and dry it; this does not prove every damp panel needs disposal.
Stay away from the affected area, do not touch electrical switches, outlets or appliances near water, and call a professional. If anyone is in danger, leave the area and call 911.
How can a homeowner compare two scopes?
Check whether both bids include source correction, material assessment, removal and finish replacement. The estimate guide provides comparison questions; the calculator does not price cabinetry by dimensions.
Calls go to voicemail, not a live provider. Messages are recorded and transcribed after the greeting. You can email us instead.
